Influental thrash-pioneers from Essen in the Ruhr industrial-area Kreator's debut-album which is the most brutal thrash-metal you'll ever hear, inspiring many to come death- and escpecially black metal-bands.

The band formed as Tyrant in 1982.

This is hyper-aggressive metal with an insane tempo and I never liked this when I was young in the 80's but now I can appreciate their music and what they have ment to the metal-society all over the world. Toooormentoooor!!

Another one of the most popular pop-artists of the 1980's here with his 2nd album wich included the superhit "The Riddle". The album peaked at nr. 5 in Norway, nr. 8 in UK and New Zeeland, nr. 11 in Sweden, nr. 12 in Germany and reached good positions in many other countires. The album, apart from the 80's style synthpop, however has very obvious jazzinfluences and is not very good if you want to hear 80's popmusic since the songs are very odd and not following "rules". Actually I think the songs are rather boring, but then again I'm not into jazz.

Wishbone Ash's 4th (yes really!) album was a more calm and sensitive folk-like album than their rockier twin-guitar-laden previous albums. It has an Pink Floyd/Barclay James Harvest atmosphere mixed with some rockier songs. An album worth exploring since it has a lot of melody and feeling and since it was made in the 70's guarantees a kind of quality-stamp! A bit too soft for me even though there are some good melodies, singing, nice guitarplaying but foremost feeling!

1)So many things to say (7,5) Midtempo rock with raspy vocals.

2)Ballad of the Beacon (7,5) A very Barclay James Harvest-feel to this sweet melodic ballad with á capella-vocals and nice guitarplaying.

3)No easy road (7,0) Rock'n'roll with horns.

4)Everybody needs a friend (6,0) Sugarsweet ballad that's too cheesy.

5)Doctor (7,0) Just a plain rocker.

6)Sorrel (7,5) Beautiful low key melodic song.

7)Sing out the song (5,0) Very low key country-ish.

8)Rock'n'roll widow (7,5) Cool and variated soft-rock.

The 3rd album from heavy riffers and "devil-worshipers" Black Sabbath. It was their big breakthrough as the album reached nr. 5 in the UK-charts and 8 in the US charts. Many critics did not like the bands heaviness, darkness and Sabbath were accused of being satanists, hence my comment above... Since this album was released the very year I was born I have come to like it many many years later and I see it as one of the best hardrock albums ever to be released since I like pure heavy metal, melody and progressive music. Music that moves my soul. All is here but I want to hear more after the short 34 minutes delivered.

1)Sweet leaf (8,5) One of the best riffs ever! Begins with Tony Iommi coughing after taking a joint.

2)After forver (9,0) Superb driving riff and rhythm and nice changes of those.

3)Embryo (-) 30 second intro.

4)Children of the grave (8,0) Good strutting riff but some stupid bongo-drum destroys half of the song.

5)Orchid (-) 1.30 long acoustic guitarpicking.

6)Lord of this world (9,5) Incredible riff and heaviness! Quiet slow song.

7)Solitude (7,0) Mystic slow song with a bassline and flute together with spacy vocals.

8)Into the void (10,0) Not many songs get full points! An absolutely fantastic song. First a 1-minute slow "intro" and the the most evil riff there ever was and the vocals makes it even more powerful before a fast part sets in and then back to the heavy slow basspumping and riff. Wow!

Score: 8,67

Music that stay true in some way to the original blues, unlike many others at the time, trying to mix blues with rock. There's no heaviness or virtouso-playing, just real and pure blues (even though it's electric... Depends on what you compare with). There is also variation in different blues-types here and also many own new ideas that was to inspire many bluesartists to follow. The album reached nr. 8  on the Britsh charts, which today sounds incredible. Once there was a good time for the blues!

On the previous album the later to become world famous Eric Clapton played guitar in the band but left to form Cream. The band at this time featured only to-become well known musicians, for example John McVie and Peter Green in Fleetwood Mac and Ansley Dunbar in UFO, Frank Zappa, Lou Reed and many more bands.

This is a partly superb album, from one of the top bluesacts of the time, and after...

1)A hard road (8,0)

2)It's over (7,5)

3)You don't love me (7,5)

6)Hit the highway (7,5)

7)Leaping Christine (7,5)

This is the absolutely 1st album from, already then, charttopper howling rock'n'roll maniac Little Richard. This album reached nr. 13 and Little Richard had had 6 top 40-hits before the album was released. This is a mix of rockabilly, blues, soul and old-time orchestra music. The songs are very good all through, not many artists could match the quality and energy of Little Richards songs. He influenced pop- and rockmusic for all time to come.

Guitarrist Edgar Blachard had played with Professor Longhair, Big Joe Turner, Ray Charles among others. He died in 1972, only 48 years old. Bassist Frank Fields had played with Fats Domino, Professor Longhair and Smiley Lewis among others. He died in 2005, 91 year old. Drummer Earl Palmer played with many many many artist during a 60-yearcarrier in rockmusic and is probably the person who first used the word "funky". He died in 2008, 83 years of age. Saxophonist Lee Allen had plaeyd with Paul Gayten, Dave Bartholomew, Fats Domino and Lloyd Price. He died in 1994, 58 years old. The other saxophonist Alvin Tyler had also played with Dave Bartholomew and Fats Domino and died in 1998, 72 years of age, leaving Little Richard as the only surviving member of he's old debut-band.

On this album Manowar continued their Heavy Metal-crusade as usual. It's supermajestic with big choirs, narrated themes between the songs and of course, some good ol' metal. Some good songs and some not so good. Business as usual one can say when it comes to this band. Sadly drummer Scott Columbus died in 2011 meaning this was the last album he contributed on. It is not known what the cause of death was.

1)Overture to the hymn of the immortal warriors. (7,0) Super-majestic orchestra and choir-intro that goes on for 6 minutes!

2)The ascension (-) Intro nr. 2.

3)King of kings (8,0) A good PURE heavy metal-song with double bassdrum tempo.

4)Army of the dead, part I (-) Choir-stuff.

5)Sleipnir (7,0)

6)Loki god of fire (7,5) Heavy!

7)Blood brothers (5,0) Majestic ballad but too cheesy.

8)Overture to Odin (6,0) Another majestic orchestral piece.

9)The blood of Odin (-) Narrated.

10)Sons of Odin (7,5)

11)Glory majesty unity (-) Narrated.

12)Gods of war (7,0) Majestic marching song.

13)Army of the dead, part II (-) Choir.

14)Odin (5,5) Slow and boring.

15)Hymn of the immortal warriors (6,5)
