This band was formed in 1984 by Genesis-member Mike Rutherford. They played a typical kind of 80's pop with good songs and elements of rock and they had two very strong vocalists. Paul Carrack has had a long solocarrier with several hit songs, Paul Young has played with Sad Café and died in 2000, Adrian Lee has played with Cliff Richard, Toyah, Chris De Burgh and 10 CC, Peter Van Hooke has played with Cliff Richard and Van Morrison.
1)Nobodys perfect (7,5) Very nice intro that builds up to the refrain. Good, clear singing and a catchy hit-refrain and typical sounds of the 80's.
2)The living years (8,0) A teardripping song about a father that passes away. A big choir-chorus and kind of a ballad. Very good song and a huge hit for the band.
3)Seeing is believing (6,5) A rocking pop-song. Guitarrriff and synthcomp.
4)Nobody knows (7,0) Nice ballad with an up-tempo refrain. Nice sensetive singing.
5)Poor boy down (7,0) Up-tempo pop-rocker. Very 80's style.
6)Blame (6,5) Dancefloorfiller with a heavy synthbeat and strong vocals. A bit repetitive.
7)Don't (5,5) Just a synthbeat and strong vocals. Different.
8)Black and blue (6,0) As always good singing but a pretty boring song.
9)Beautiful day (5,0) Just a song, nothing special and nothing happens.
10)Why me? (8,0) A song with different phases and a bombastic refrain and Pink Floyd-like guitarplaying. This song would have suited Pink Floyd or old Marillion perfect, a really good song.

A band from the industrytown of Hofors, Sweden. This is their 2nd album and they play a kind of much heard-before lightweight punk-hardrock with a poppy approach. They do it fairly good though.
1)Blessed with a burden (8,0) Very good start. Intensive, melodic and happy good-feeling summer radiorock.
2)High noon (6,5) Good refrain but otherwise rather boring.
3)Halo (7,5) A nice melodic powerballad.
4)Awake (6,5) Okey but too mellow and sweet after a ballad.
5)Rib caged (7,0) Nice riff and an exploding refrain and blistering guitarsolo.
6)Miracles (7,5) A good rocksong while driving the car!
7)Ghost (7,5) An energic song with very good refrain. I like the heavy riffing at the end.
8)Honesty (8,0) A very nice calm song with wonderful melodic singing.
9)When silence sleeps (7,0) An okey punk-popsong.
10)Vade mecum (6,5) A slow and melodic song with both acoustic and electric guitar.
11)All this time (7,0) A mix of heavy and soft stuff.

A hardcore metalband from Sweden formed in 1996. They have through their carrier played a very non-melodic hardcore-metal with influences from death metal but on this album they have got softer so even I can find some good songs on it. Before I have had problems listening to their music which I have'nt found too good. I don't mind the music beeing hard, but there need to be some good songs and they havent got that until now. The have even followed the trend of mixing progressive elements into their music. Maybe that's what bands need to stay popular, too follow the trends? The twinbrothers Anders and Jonas Björler earlier played with At The Gates and Patrik Jensen also plays in Witchery and has played with Satanic Slaughter. Peter Dolving has been a member of Mary Beats Jane.
1)Never better (7,0) Porcupine Tree-influenced progressive metal mixed with american style modern metal.
2)No ghost (7,0) Pantera rip-off but a good heavy song.
3)Catch 22 (7,0) More progressive stuff and that continues through the album.

Charlie is a well-known bluesman and harmonica player ever since he released his first album in 1966. He has mostly played his own music but also guested on other artists albums, such as Bonnie Raitt, INXS and Tom Waits. He has released over 20 albums and has recieved 14 W.C Handy-awards. This album shows Charlies harmonicaskills and low dark voice full of feeling and...the blues! It's not a heavy or rocking album, it's just the blues the way Charlie lives it. The drummer Stephen Hodges has been playing with Tom Waits, John Hammond, James Harman and more.
1)Ramblin' blues (7,5) Wonderful driving rambler's blues with a steady pace and a great old-style guitarcomp mixed with harmonica.
2)Dig the pain (7,0) A lowkey jumpblues.
3)The well (7,0) Un uptempo stomper with simple lyrics and the old man's kind of talking the blues and wonderful jazzy guitarcomp.
4)Where hwy 61 runs (7,5) Wonderful heavy blues wher the drums works the rhythm.
5)Sad and beautiful world (7,5) Co-vocals by Mavis Staples and their voices makes a perfect match even though they are so different.
6)Sonny Payne special (7,0) A jazzy uptempo number containing duelling harmonica and guitar.
7)Good times (7,5) Wonderful dark vocals by Charlie and also nice guitarplaying by him.

10)Hoodoo queen (6.5) A John Lee Hooker-style funky monoton talking boogieblues.
11)Clarksdale getaway (6,0) An instrumental with a lot of harmonica.

Although this band has been around since 1978 this is the first album I've had heard with them. This album came together after the original members got together after their bassist Paul Raven died in 2007. I have listende to the album many times but I just don't get it. For me it's many metallic noise-terror with very little melody. Here and there I find some okey parts but mostly I want to turn the CD off. Heavy industrial rock would be the best way to describe this album. The "singing" is really annoying, raw and more of a talking/screaming than singing.

The band Docent Död (later Docenterna) was formed in Sollentuna near Stockholm in 1979. This is the bands 11th album and contains a nice mix of guitarpop with good hooks and melody and female and male vocals.
1)Vanligt folk (7,5) Very nice melodic guitar-pop, wonderful peaceful break at the end. A good song!
2)Sheena (6,0) An ordinary pop-song. Nothing special.
3)Pärlemor (5,0) Calm song that builds up to a guitarchaos at the end.
4)Vi ser rätt bra ut tillsammans (7,0) Punky pop with a nice melody.
5)Min enda vän (6,0) Kind of a ballad. Ok.
6)Saknar dig så (5,5) A rip-off of Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the dark.
7)Koma (5,0) Ballad with banjo and a Shadows-guitar vibrato.
8)Du kan inte komma åt mig (6,5) Punky pop. Good refrain.
9)En annan nu (6,5) Nice happy guitar-pop.
10)Det gjorde jag (5,0) Acoustic intro to a mellow song.

Yet another Motörheadalbum that sounds like...Motörhead! This is a band that sticks to their roots and see no reason to change their winning concept. The album is well produced, the playing as good as ever and the songs are good all through even if it looses some of it's quality towards the end but it's absolutely not bad! Before Lemmy founded Motörhead in 1975 he was a member of Hawkwind. Phil Campbell has been with Motörhead since 1984 and Mikkey Dee since 1992. Mikkey earlier played with King Diamond and Don Dokken.

2)Teach you how to sing the blues (8,0) A heavy and bluesy rocker that rolls on and on and it's good stuff!
3)When the eagle screams (7,0) Midtempo song but Motörhead crushes anyway.

5)One short life (7,5) Slow and heavy as hell.
6)Buried alive (7,5) Double bass-drum inferno the Motörhead way!
7)English rose (7,5) A 60's kind of rocker. The Motörhead way!!
8)Back on the chain (7,0) Motörhead-boogie! Good chorus but the guitarsolo stinks.
