British alternative rock band New Model Army formed in 1980 and this is their 2nd album. It contains very 80's style British dark suicide rock very typical for the times. No high class production, just a very simple spacy sound with much bass lines as main riffs instead of heavy guitars. An album to listen to the lyrics and think about everything thats unfair in the world but also an album to play at a party with fellows born in the 70's, like me. 2 or 3 songs are okey to listen to but an whole album gets to much since the songs are pretty much alike eachother.

The album reached nr. 22 on the British charts. Drummer Robert Heaton died of cancer in 2004, only 43 years of age.

This american cult-band is not very productive when it comes to recordings. This is only their 4th since their debut in 1988 and the 2nd in my column as "Alternative/Industrial/New wave. I can't describe their kind of difficult music in another way than "alternative". It's heavy and it's somewhat strange and goes towards industrial music. It reminds me of my before reviewed album "Absolute Dissent" by Killing Joke. There are some okey songs on this album but it's nothing I would listen to if I didn't have to. The songs are also too much alike each other.

Since Jane's Addiction's last album in 2003 Chris Chaney has recorded with Burn Halo, Slash, Taylor Hawkins And The Coattail Riders, Shinedown, Methods Of Mayhem and more.

Dave Sitek is new in the band and is mostly known for his work with the band Tv On The Radio but have also worked with Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Celebration.

1)Underground (7,5) Nice superheavy bassriff, spacy guitars and melodic vocals.

4)Irrresistable force (Met the immovable object) (7,0)

5)I'll hit you back (7,0)

7)Ultimate reason (5,5)

8)Splash a little water on it (7,0)

9)Broken people (5,5)

10)Words right out of my mouth (7,5)

Score: 6,80

Although this band has been around since 1978 this is the first album I've had heard with them. This album came together after the original members got together after their bassist Paul Raven died in 2007. I have listende to the album many times but I just don't get it. For me it's many metallic noise-terror with very little melody. Here and there I find some okey parts but mostly I want to turn the CD off. Heavy industrial rock would be the best way to describe this album. The "singing" is really annoying, raw and more of a talking/screaming than singing.

1)Absolute dissent (5,0)

2)The great cull (6,0)

3)Fresh fever from the skies (5,5)

4)In excelsis (5,0)

5)European super state (5,5)

6)This world hell (4,5)

7)Endgame (5,0)

8)The raven king (6,5)

9)Honour the fire (4,0)

10)Deptcharge (3,0)

11)Here comes the singularity (5,0)

12)Ghosts on Ladbroke Grove (5,5)
