One of the most known hardrockalbums of all time. Both when it comes to the songs Child In Time, Speed King and Black Night and the classic albumcover. It was the 4th album from the band and the 1th to include Roger Glover on bass and Ian Gillan on vocals, replacing Nick Simper and Rod Evans who were both fired in 1969. Reaching some succuess in America with their previous albums, this was their breakthrough in Europe, reaching nr. 4 on the British charts but also nr. 1 on the Australian and German charts. A 15-month tour followed the album. Prior to the albums release a single with the song "Black Night" was released. It reached nr.2 in the UK charts and Deep Purple's successful career had started! This MK II lineup had also released the livealbum "Concerto For Group And Orchestra" before In Rock.

New singer Gillan had once been in the same class in school with The Who's Pete Townshend. He played in some bands in his early musical career and sang in The Javelins for a while. Gordon Fairminer from that band later played in Sweet. Also in the band Wainwright's Gentlemen where Gillan was a member included a later Sweet-member; drummer Mick Tucker. In the band Episode Six Gillan played with Roger Glover and they started writing songs together. After Blackmoore, Paice and Lord had seen a show with Episode Six they offered Gillan to be their new singer, having decided that they should play hardrock rather than psychadelic rock. They asked if Gillan knew about a good bassplayer and so after a while Glover was also recruited.

This album is absolutely essential in every rockers recordcollection. It represents an superb document from the early 1970's; what was new then and what was to come. The songs are absolutely "top notch" and contains among the greatest musiclisteningpleasures of all time! The heaviness, the organsolos, the heavy riffing and the screamvocals and the wild rhytmsection is all among the best there has ever been.

1)Speed king (9,5) Great chaotic intro followed by a sole organ-sound and then -bang! An intense and powerful song including a guitar-organ jam. Hardrock at it's best!

2)Bloodsucker (9,0) ...and straight in to a heavy riffing hardrocker with phrasing vocals and those superb Gillan-screams!

3)Child in time (9,0) A fantastic pompous 10-minute song variated between very toned down and harder parts and it also builds up in a great way.

4)Flight of the rat (9,0) Monotone, fast and noisy 7-minute song.

5)Into the fire (8,5) Heavy and slow short rocker.

6)Living wreck (9,0) Great drumming and guitarplaying and crazy organ! Fantastic track.

7)Hard loving man (8,0) Chaotic and noisy 7-minute song with a crazy driving rhythm! Total madness the last minute.

8)Black night (8,0) Great boogierocker.

2nd album from progressive rock-"supergroup" Transatlantic with members from Marillion, Dream Theater, The Flower Kings and Spock's Beard. Later in 2001 the band went on an European tour and featuring a 5th member; Pain Of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw who played guitars, keyboards, percussion and also did vocals. The album reached nr. 56 in Germany and nr. 98 in France.

This album is not as good as their first even if there are some good parts and good playing. Unfortunately it gets too poppy and melodic here and there. I want more power!

)Duel with the devil (7,5) 27-minute progressive song that begins with a 5-minute instrumental part. Heavy and cool instrumental parts and melodic vocals.

2)Suite Charlotte pike (6,5) 14-minute mix of 60's-80's style soulful pop-rock.

3)Bridge across forever (7,5) Wonderful vocal-piano ballad.

4)Stranger in your soul (8,0) 30-minute quite good first half but like all Transatlantic songs they get too cheesy and melodic.

Score: 7,38

"The Originator", the one and only Elllas Otha Bates, as known as Bo Diddley. He recorded his 1st album in 1958 and this album of hard hitting unpolished funk, r'n'b and rock deeply rooted in the blues was released the year before I was born, in 1970. Bo's music has never been a favourite of mine but he inspired many many rockartists to follow.

1)Elephant man (6,0) Hard hitting funky r'n'b.

2)You, Bo Diddley (4,5) Boring and repetitive.

3)Black soul (5,5) Repetitive organbased funky rock. Not much happening.

4)Power house (7,0) A good heavy bluesrocker.

5)If the bible's right (6,5) An okey r'n'b-rocker with nice female background vocals.

6)I've got a feeling (6,0)

7)Shut up, woman (6,5) A heavy and slow blues in Hotchie Kootchie-style.

8)Hot buttered blues (7,0) A slow blues.

9)Funky fly (4,5) Boring funky song.

10)I don't like you (6,0) Crazy spoken song between Bo and a woman.

Score: 5,95

In 2011, half-brothers Zack Anderson (bass) and Cory Berry (drums), formerly of Radio Moscow, were in Iowa and met singer Elin Larsson, who was staying in California. Together they recorded two demo tracks and published them on YouTube, after which label "Crusher Records" offered them a deal. The band toured to Spain and France, where they met 16-year-old guitarrist Dorian Sorriaux, whom they invited to Örebro and made a member of the band. The name of the band came from their friend, Jens Heide, who had a music blog called BluesPillz with obscure 60s and 70s underground music.

In May 2012 they released an EP called "Bliss", followed by the "Black Smoke" single in July. The band toured extensively during 2013 with appearances in Berlin's "Desertfest" in April, in Bad Kötzting's "Void Fest" and Geel's "Yellowstock Festival" in August, in Bonn's "Crossroads Festival" in October and Melbourne's "Cherry Rock Festival" in November 2013.

In July 2013, Blues Pills signed a contract with the "Nuclear Blast" label and released their "Devil Man" EP in October. Their appearance at the "Crossroads Festival" was recorded and released in the form of the "Live at Rockpalast" EP in March 2014.

Shortly after the release of this album, their debut,  Cory Berry was replaced with new drummer André Kvarnström.

In the summer of 2014 they appeared in the "Sweden Rock Festival", in Gelsenkirchen's "Rock Hard Festival" in June and in the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in July 2014.

The album became successful in Europe, climbing to No. 4 in Germany and No. 10 in Switzerland, while it also reached British charts at No. 68.

It's always fun to discover new good rockbands! This is among the best new music I have heard in a long time. Of course it's not played at all on radio, because there are electric guitars and hardhitting drums playing, and most people can't standing listening to that, be how good the music may! Tragic but true. There is a LOT of Graveyard style riffing on this album but thats not a bad thing...

This is a MUST have album!

1)High class woman (9,0) Absolutely great hardrock shuffle with psychadelic influences.

2)Aint't no change (9,0) Same rhythm as above which builds up to a bassdriven jumpblueshardrocker!

3)Jupiter (8,5) Energic, funky rock'n'roll with stoner-influences and a Led Zeppelin-ish break.

4)Black smoke (10,0) Damn damn and damn again!!

5)River (7,5) Sleazy and slow ballad.

6)No hope left for me (8,0) Very much Graveyard-riffing in this calmer but intense track.

7)Devil man (8,5) Graveyard-copy.

8)Astralplane (8,5) Slow and oh so good! Great feeling in Elin's voice!

9)Gypsy (9,0) Jimi Hendrix-style chaotic and damn good!

10)Little sun (8,0) Ballad and even that they make with so much feeling and power!

Score: 8,60

Groundhogs 3rd album, with the same line-up moved even more away from the blues than their latest album the year before. They instead moved into more strange, psychadelic and progressive rock and hardrock mixed with melodic parts.

1)Strange town (6,5)

2)Darkness is no friend (5,0) Very strange progressive rocker.

3)Soldier (7,0) Strange singing in this one. They're constantly avoiding "normal" melodies in the singing but the guitarparts have more normal arrangements and I like those parts.

4)Thanks christ for the bomb (4,0) First ordinary melodic acoustic and then chaotic electric chaos. What's the point?

5)Ship on the ocean (6,5) A quite straight rocker. Absolutely no blues on this album!

6)Garden (7,0) By now this album has turned into more convienient rock even though Groundhogs always have their own twist on things...

7)Status people (5,0) Really weird guitar-vocal combination. Progressive stuff!

8)Rich man, poor man (7,0) A good straight rocker.

9)Eccentric man (6,5)

Score: 6,06

Very very influenced by the 1970's, Witchcraft from Örebro, Sweden followed up their debutalbum with this one, developing thier simple Black Sabbath-riffing, cowbell-hitting and screaming guitars-hardrock. Superb riffing and very good songs but the vocals are way too clear and without power. Pentagram seem to be a big influence. The same year Witchcraft toured with Corrosion Of Confirmity. In 2006 drummer Jonas Arnesén left the band and was replaced by original drummer Jens Henriksson. He later quit once again and was replaced by Abramis Brama-drummer Fredrik Jansson before the next album was recorded.

1)Chlyde of fire (6,5) Nice song and great guitarplaying but terrible clear vocals and pathetic and cliché-lyrics.

2)If wishes were horses (8,0) Great riff. The vocals suits better in this one.

3)Mr.Haze (7,5)

4)Wooden cross (I can't wake the dead) (8,0)

5)Queen of bees (8,0) Very heavy and slow.

6)Merlin's daughter (8,0) Good 1.30 long instrumental.

7)I see a man (9,0) Very simple music but oh so good!

8)Gorrow evoker (7,5)

9)You suffer (8,5) Short and intense.

10)Attention! (7,0) Includes a cover of a Pentragram-song (When the screams come) as a hidden track.

11)When the screams come (8,0) Pentagram-cover.

Score: 7,82
