8 years into their albumreleasingcareer J. Geils Band released another album worth of rockin' and rollin' songs but this time they took a much calmer and poppier path and not all the songs are top class anymore. It seemes like they went out of steam since they before was a full throttle party band but now went for the melody and they sound more like any american band of the era. The harmonica-sound though is the same as before.

This is the legendary swedish humour-singer, multiinstrumentalist and rock'n'roller Eddie Meuza's debut-LP from 1975. He has gone to history as a crazy boozer that could write nasty lyrics like no other and he remains a cult figure to this day, especially among rockabilly- and veterancarpeople. If you visit an Swedish city or town on a friday och saturday night you will probably hear Meduza's music playing from old cars driving around.

This album is clearly an debutalbum and is not very good, with a few exeptions. The music is swedish "dansband" and amateurish pop and rock in the 70's style.

The drummers Roger Palm and Ola Brunkert is of ABBA-fame.

Wishbone Ash's 4th (yes really!) album was a more calm and sensitive folk-like album than their rockier twin-guitar-laden previous albums. It has an Pink Floyd/Barclay James Harvest atmosphere mixed with some rockier songs. An album worth exploring since it has a lot of melody and feeling and since it was made in the 70's guarantees a kind of quality-stamp! A bit too soft for me even though there are some good melodies, singing, nice guitarplaying but foremost feeling!

1)So many things to say (7,5) Midtempo rock with raspy vocals.

2)Ballad of the Beacon (7,5) A very Barclay James Harvest-feel to this sweet melodic ballad with á capella-vocals and nice guitarplaying.

3)No easy road (7,0) Rock'n'roll with horns.

4)Everybody needs a friend (6,0) Sugarsweet ballad that's too cheesy.

5)Doctor (7,0) Just a plain rocker.

6)Sorrel (7,5) Beautiful low key melodic song.

7)Sing out the song (5,0) Very low key country-ish.

8)Rock'n'roll widow (7,5) Cool and variated soft-rock.

Groundhogs 3rd album, with the same line-up moved even more away from the blues than their latest album the year before. They instead moved into more strange, psychadelic and progressive rock and hardrock mixed with melodic parts.

1)Strange town (6,5)

2)Darkness is no friend (5,0) Very strange progressive rocker.

3)Soldier (7,0) Strange singing in this one. They're constantly avoiding "normal" melodies in the singing but the guitarparts have more normal arrangements and I like those parts.

4)Thanks christ for the bomb (4,0) First ordinary melodic acoustic and then chaotic electric chaos. What's the point?

5)Ship on the ocean (6,5) A quite straight rocker. Absolutely no blues on this album!

6)Garden (7,0) By now this album has turned into more convienient rock even though Groundhogs always have their own twist on things...

7)Status people (5,0) Really weird guitar-vocal combination. Progressive stuff!

8)Rich man, poor man (7,0) A good straight rocker.

9)Eccentric man (6,5)

Score: 6,06

Tony McPhee-vocals and guitars (b.1944)

Former member of the Spiders From Mars in David Bowie's band, Mick Ronson recorded some soloalbums after that period. This is an album of mostly coversongs, spanning from cheesy to wild rocksongs. The quality is variating from not very good to okey and the vocals is not very good either. Not an album I would listen to more than for the sake of rockhistory.

1)Billy Porter (4,0)

2)Angel no.9 (7,0)

3)This is for you (6,0)

4)White light/white heat (Lou Reed) (7,0)

5)Play don't worry (6,0)

6)Hazy days (3,0)

7)Girl can't help it (6,5)

8)The empty bed (lo me ne andrei) (5,0)

9)Woman (6,0)

The 4th album by Lou Reed and his most selling one, reaching top 10 in the USA. It was his first album not to include songs by Reed's former band The Velvet Underground and the first to be recorded in the USA. Reed was not much involved in the production and he was very dissapointed of the sound of the songs and since it was a hit-record the recordcompany wanted to release another one as fast as possible. Reed then handed over a tape of reverbs and noises that defenitely was not going to be a hit!

Guitarrist Danny Weis is a founder member of Iron Butterfly. Harmonica-player Steve Katz is a former member of Blood Sweat And Tears. Drummer Pentti Glan had played on Steppenwolf John Kay's two first albums prior to this album.

1)Ride Sally ride (6,0) Sounds very Eric Claptonish slow rock.

2)Animal language (7,0) Bluesy rock'n'roll.

3)Baby face (7,0) Slow and bluesy with nice feeling.

4)N.Y. stars (7,0) Slow sleazy rock.

5)Kill your sons (6,0)

6)Ennui (5,0) Slow ballad and quite boring.

7)Sally can't dance (6,5) Very much alike the other rockers on the album. Sounds a bit like Bob Dylan.

8)Billy (5,0) Acoustic and saxophone-based singer-songwriter music.

This is the debut album from, in Sweden, very wellknown guitarrist Janne Schaffer. He was 28 when this album was released and features some also wellknown artists like Björn J:son Lindh and Ola Brunkert. The music is mostly instrumental and a lot of funk can be heard, mixed with rock, folk and jazz. Here and there it sounds like pornmusic but it's a rather okey album even though there ain't much vocals on it. The 8-minute "Jordbruksmaskinen" ("Harvest machine") is a progressive killer-song.

This album started a long career leading to playing with ABBA, Toto, Bob Marley, Ted Gärdestad and many many other swedish artists. He plays a Larrivée guitar but on this album it's a Gibson Les Paul.

Drummer Ola Brunkert also played with ABBA (on all their albums) and recorded for many many other artists. He died in 2008 after a fall, 62 years old. Pianist Björn J:son Lindh is one of sweden's most known compositiors, he died of a tomour in 2013, 69 years old. Percussionist Jan Tolf died in 2005, 56 years of age.

The year after their big breaktrough with the live album from Fillmore East, the Allman's put some leftovers from that live album on this double album, plus a few new studio recordings. It was the last album to feature one of the brothers, namely Duane Allman, who died in a motorcycle crash in october 1971 (2 months after i was born!) while this album was recorded. 2 sides of the album consists of a 33 minute live jam session bases around the song There Is A Mountain by Donovan. The album is very blues-based, ecspecially the live songs. The african rhythms put an another level to the music and fits great with the jazzy and progressive elements of The Allmans's music. It's a great album with great playing and great songs. It still rocks and stands tall after 40 years!

1)Ain't wastin' time no more (7,5) Typical Allman floating sound and african-like rhythms.

2)Les brers in A Minor (9,0) Absolutely fantastic! 3 minute tuning of instruments and then the greatest jam-song I can imagine. 9 minutes is way too short!

3)Melissa (7,5) A nice mellow ballad.

4)Mountain jam (8,0) Good quality jam-session. Part 1.

5)One way out (8,5) A Sonny Boy Williamson-cover. Good live-blues.

6)Trouble no more (8,5) Muddy Waters-cover. Again some good heavy Chicago-blues. Greatly played by a fantastic band!

7)Stand back (8,0)

8)Blue sky (8,5) Dickey Betts on vocals in this sweet calm Allman-rocker.

9)Little Martha (7,0) Duane and Dickey plays acoustic.

10)Mountain jam (6,0) Not very interesting second part of the jam.
