After a string of fantastic albums Kansas for some reason released this one. I don't know what happened but probably there wasn't any more ideas, and it's not very strange after the incredible quality of their past albums.

1)On the other side (8,5) Typical melodic and progressive Kansas. Good song by Livgren once again.

2)People of the south wind (7,0) Very poppy song with a catchy refrain and some silly keyboardsounds.

3)Angel have fallen (7,0) A very variated powerful progger. Maybe too much variation without something that holds it together. It's like 3 different songs.

4)How my soul cries out for you (4,0) Very heavy and messy song. Don't like it at all. Walsh's songs are not at all as good as Livgren's.

5)A glimpse of home (6,5) An okey melodic progger but it's really getting an repetition of what Kansas had made on all their albums and the ideas are starting to lack.

6)Away from you (6,0) Very melodic and boring.

7)Stay out of trouble (6,5)

8)Reason to be (5,0) A really boring acoustic ballad.

This is probably the best Aerosmith album in their career, in my opinion. Almost all songs are really strong and it's an enjoyment to listen to their simple but energic songs. The harmonicaplaying by Tyler is truly great and is an important part of their sound on this album. It's really top 70's hardrock on this record, recommended!

1)Same old song and dance (8,5) A heavy bluesrocker cotaining a hornsection that sounds absolutely great!

2)Lord of the thighs (8,0) Supersimple riff and rhythm and a great chaotic last minute.

3)Spaced (7,5) A wonderful midtempo song with some funny guitarplaying and weird arrangements.

4)Woman of the world (8,5) A superb hardrocker that varies between fast and slow and the harmonicasolo is great!

5)S.O.S. (Too bad) (7,5) A fast, short and heavy rocker.

6)Train kept on rollin' (7,5) A heavy version of the Yardbirds-version of this 1951 song. They made it in a funny way by making the 2nd half of it sounding like it's recorded live (But it's actually not).

7)Seasons of wither (5,0) I find this kind-of-a-ballad rather boring.

8)Pandora's box (7,0)

Released only a few months after the much better album "Wheels of steel", this albums seems to consist of leftovers from that album even though the three first songs are pretty good. Fortunately there were much better albums to come later. I really like the album-cover!

1)Heavy metal thunder (8,0) Good and furious start with a concrete-crushing metalsong.

2)To hell and back again (7,0) Fast and heavy but it just goes on and on without variation and the refrain gets repeated too much.

3)Strong arm of the law (8,0) A good midtempo hardrocker.

4)Taking your chances (6,0) Another heavy song with no variation or good ideas.

5)20 000 ft (5,0)

6)Hungry years (5,5)

7)Sixth form girls (4,0)

8)Dallas 1 pm (7,0)

Bob Seger was a very popular singer in the US in the 70's and 80's. This album peaked at nr.5 in the charts and sold 2 million copies in the US. The single "Shame on the moon" was at nr.2 on the singlecharts behind Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". The music is west coast melodic stadiumrock typical of the era of the end of the 70's and beginning of the 80's. Similarities of Bruce Springsteen can be heard here and there. The songs on this album is too week so I sold my copy of it.

Craig Frost is also known for playing with Grand Funk Railroad 1973-1977.

Bobbye Hall has recorded with many many many well known artists and has been on 22 recordings that have reached the Billboard Hot 100, and of these 6 has gone to number one.

1)Even now (6,5) Sounds very much like Bruce Springsteen.

2)Makin' Thunderbirds (7,5) Bluesrocker with piano.

3)Boomtown blues (7,0) Intense and good rocker reminding of Rolling Stones.

4)Shame on the moon (6,0)

5)Love's the last to know (8,0) Wonderful and sesitive ballad.

6)Roll me away (6,0)

7)House behind a house (4,5) Terrible heavy song.

8)Comin' home (5,5) A very mellow and soft ballad but not very good.

9)Litte victories (5,0) Heavy but contentless rocker.

The Marshall Tucker Band has always been considered a Southern Rock band although this album is more toned down and has some similiarities with The Allman Brothers Band in some songs which include some african rhythms. The songs are not that good and I really miss some rockers on this album. I fall asleep listening to it.

1)I'll be loving you (7,5) Pretty intense Allman Brothers Band-like song with african rhythms.

2)Love is a mystery (6,5) 7-minute kind of a love-ballad.

3)Singing rhymes (6,0)

4)Dream lover (7,0) More uptempo and okey tune.

5)Everybody needs somebody (6,0) A halfboring ballad.

6)Change is gonna come (7,0) Same comment as song 1.

7)Asking too much of you (6,0) An acoustic sad ballad.

Ufo continued in their more melodic hardrockstyle that they developed on the albums before this one. Nothing new under the sun, just heavy riffing and strong vocals as always. In my opinion they became a little too melodic and soft here and there but there are some good songs on this album. After the album was released and tour done, Pete Way left the band to join former Motörhead-guitarrist "Fast" Eddie Clarke in the band Fastway.

1)The writer (6,0) Steady, driving rhythm and an okey song but very irritating trumpet-like keyboardsound.

2)Something else (6,0) Exactly the same as on the last song. Whatta hell were they thinking of with those annoying sounds?

3)Back into my life (8,0) Wonderful melodic song in old Ufo-style containing acoustic guitar and nice pianoplaying.

4)You'll get love (7,5) A good heavy hardrocker.

5)Doing it all for you (6,5) Back to the roots with a mix of melodic calm parts and midtempo rocking. The last 2 minutes is not very good with it's keyboardinferno and boring guitarsolo which destroyes the song.

6)We belong to the night (7,5) A good rocker! Simple cool riff.

7)Let it rain (6,5) Chorusbased midtempo song.

8)Terri (7,0) An okey ballad.

9)Feel it (7,5) A good Ufo-rocker.

10)Dreaming (7,5) Same as above.
