CMX (Cloaca Maxima) was founded in Tornio, northern Finland in 1985. They released their 1st album in 1990 and is one of the most respected and successful bands in the country. They are among the few that has earned both critical acclaim and commercial success. From being a hardcore-band in the beginning they have developed their style to a more progressive rock-band with a very special style of their own and lyrics in finnish. The singing on this album is clear and melodic to rough. It suits fine with the not-so-heavy music and have a typical finnish darkness and mellowness. I can hear the heavier band (also from northern Finland) Sentenced here and there. It's an album that can appeal both to proggers, hardrockers and the normal radiolistener. I would have prefered heavier songs and more variation between them, it gets a little too soft, but the quality of the music is there. There is no dout that this is a band who knows what they are doing.

Dingo is a band from Pori, Finland that was very popular in Finland in the middle of the 80's. They were formed in 1982 and this is their 6th album. The only original member is Neumann. It consists of simple rocksongs in a typical finnish-style and range from okey to pretty good. It's not a top-album but it's a shame it has only sold 2 000 copies. It deserves better.

Pertti Neumannhas also released 4 soloalbums. Erik Valkamaa has played with Boomfunk MC's, The Sledge, Scratch etc. Ville Siuriainen has played with many bands, for example Soulcage, Kirofoni and Circuitry. Robert Engstrand who is born in Sweden has played with some more well-known acts like The Flower Kings and Timo Kotipelto and some bands from Finland.

This is the 3rd album from this swedish sleazeband much inspired by the 80's hairbands Skidrow, Hanoi Rocks, Mötley Crüe etc. To this album they had a new singer, Simon Cruz wich makes a fantastic job an suits Crashdiets hardhitting hardrock perfect. After a good debut in 2005 they made a not as good album in 2007 but with this one they really establish themselfs as one of the best bands the genre right now.

1)442 (-) Intro.

2)Armageddon (7,5) Very well produced, heavy and powerful song.

3)So alive (8,0) This could have been a hit in 1985 for Mötley Crüe. Good singing, choir and song.

4)Generation wild (7,5) Good but I want to have more guitarsolos!

5)Rebel (7,5) Fast, heavy and crazy.

6)Save her (7,5) Not a ballad but something like that.

7)Down with the dust (9,0) A damn good rocker, fast and furious! Even with guitarsolos, but it's tooo short.

8)Native nature (8,5) Supercool intro that goes into a furious riffing and Mötley Crüe-like bridge, refrain etc.

9)Chemical (7,5)

10)Bound to fall (8,0) Really good mix of heavy riffing and melodic refrain and a nice break in the middle.

11)Beautiful pain (7,5)

Scored: 7,85

Bonfire was one of my favourite band's in the 80's. They played what I liked best at the time; heavy melodic hardrock. They had the hair, the music and the looks to be able to become a big band in the poodlehairdays of the 80's and they were at least among the most well-known band in that genre at the time.

Bonfire started out as Cacumenin Ingolstadt, Germany in 1972 and in 1978 they hired the singer Claus Lessman who still is in the band. Cacumen released an album in 1981. The name Bonfire came up in 1986 and this album was the first from the new band featuring 2 new members.

This album's a little uneven. It suffers from bad production and not always good songs but promises for better music to come, and it sure did!

1)Intro (-) A good intro that makes for high expectations.

2)Starin' eyes (6,5) Oh what a "thin" sound. The production seems to suck. It only sounds okey with a lot off bass on the stereo and with headphones on. The drumsound is plastic but the song itself is not bad but could have been better.

3)Hot to rock (7,0) My goodness, they try to be really hard and tough but they're not! The singer really saves the song because he's really good!

4)You make me feel (8,0) A very good 80's hardrock powerballad. After some listening I'm getting used to the drumsound.

5)Longing for you (6,0) Again I can't stand the drumsound but the song is ok and typical Bonfire; a simple riff and a good refrain.

6)Don't touch the light (7,0) Except for the drums, a good song.

7)S.D.I. (6,0) Slow and heavy song that's too repetitive.

8)No more (7,5) A good song all through. They show that they can make good music and that there will be better albums to come.

9)L.A. (7,5) An uptempo rocker thats pretty good but again too repetitive.

Score: 6,94
